Ku Washi incense range

Ku, crafted from washi (Japanese paper), embodies the essence of autumn without the need for burning. Collaboratively designed by TRUNK Design and incense masters in Awaji Island, Ku delicately blends natural perfumes within the paper, creating a fragrant masterpiece.

Tear the leaves:
The leaves can be placed inside wallets, card cases, or into glass containers to be used as a diffuser.

Light up and place on mat:
Set the leaves on fire, then extinguish. If the fire is left on, the scent will not be prominent. Please then place the smoking leaves on the included mat, with the mat placed on an ashtray or something similar.


Knead the powder and add aroma: 
The Machillus Thunbergii tree (‘tabu no ki’) powder is kneaded with water to make clay, then blended with fragrant wood for the aroma, and dye is added for colour.

Powder a block of incense:
Once the incense blocks are cut into sticks, it is ground into powder using the same stone mortar used in soba noodle shops.

Filter with ‘kozo’ (paper mulberry):
Filter with ‘kozo’ (paper mulberry) which is the raw material of Japanese paper.

Dry:
Gently pressing down to drain the liquid from washi. When it dries, the Japanese paper incense is complete.

Cut into leaf shape:
The product is completed by cutting it into the shape of a leaf.
