Hisashi Horibe the 3rd president of Shizu Hamono.
His father found Shizu Hamono in Seki-city in 1959. Seki-city in Gifu prefecture locates in center of Japan and the city is known for producing Japanese swords and knives since Japanese sword smith stated producing Japanese swords 800 years ago.
Hisashi started his carrier in his father's factory after graduating from a school. His father was a polishing craftsman so he spend a lot of time in the production and learnt skills from craftsmen. Because of this experience, he and Shizu Hamono deliver superb kitchen knives made by good skills.
Hisashi is 66 years old and still sits in a factory every day. He can perform varieties of techniques and his daily routine is straightening knife blades and checking sharpness of all knives. The appropriate amount of power to straighten blade is very close to the amount of power which easily breaks the blade.
