Soft, airy, and naturally breathable, this shawl showcases the quiet refinement and comfort that define traditional Japanese gauze. The shawl can be worn as a shawl, a blouse or a scarf.
Made from cotton processed through the "Kyo Wazarashi Mensya" method, the fabric undergoes a slow, gentle scouring process that preserves the natural structure of the cotton fibres. Unlike modern high-speed chemical treatments, this traditional technique enhances the cotton’s inherent softness and loft, resulting in gauze that feels light, fluffy, and exceptionally kind to the skin.
The multi-layer gauze construction creates delicate air pockets that provide gentle warmth while allowing air to circulate freely. It offers comfort across seasons - light enough for summer, yet softly insulating in cooler weather.

What is "Kyo Wazarashi Mensya"?
Kyo Wazarashi Mensya, a variation of cotton gauze made using a traditional Japanese technique, has been used for many years. The method allows pockets of air between the fiber layers, making the cotton highly absorptive and breathable.

Care Instructions:
To preserve the softness and natural texture of your gauze shawl:
- Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle
- Wash separately or with similar colours
- Use mild detergent
- Do not bleach
- Tumble dry on low or hang to dry
- Avoid high heat, which may cause shrinkage
- Light ironing on low if desired (wrinkles are part of the fabric’s natural character)
With proper care, the fabric will continue to soften beautifully over time.
