Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that is used for carrying items,  wrapping goods or presents.  The added advantage is that you can wrap your furoshiki into a versatile bag by using our furoshiki rings or furoshiki patchins (sold separately).

Unlike a Tenugui, the edges of a furoshiki cloth are typically hemmed to prevent fraying. This stitching is not just for show, it’s also because in its regular daily use, the furoshiki may be exposed to rougher settings.

A furoshiki is used for things like carrying loads of books or protecting a tall glass sake bottle on its journey to a picnic in the park. The furoshiki was originally used in onsen culture, hence its name which is formed from the characters furo 風呂, bath, and shiki 敷, meaning spread, so to successfully transport larger items like clothes and washing products, the size of the furoshiki has become a little larger too.

*********

"Hime Musubi" is a new type of Japanese design. MUSUBI has collaborated with French designer, Adeline Klam, to bring you this traditional motif with special unique color contrasts. Enjoy these beautiful colors when wrapping those special items. This particular design and color fits very well with current interior and fashion styles. As well as with modern Japanese taste.

Adeline Klam was fascinated by Japanese Washi (traditional paper), and she has produced Yuzen paper by arranging Japanese traditional patterns to modern designs.  Her extraordinary color sense has created some amazing work. In addition, she has also produced handmade kits and interior object using washi.
