A beautifully refined expression of one of Japan’s most celebrated tea traditions, CHILL Classic Japanese Matcha is a ceremonial-grade green tea distinguished by its vivid colour, silky texture and rich, lingering umami.
Made in Japan from carefully cultivated tea leaves, the leaves are shaded before harvest to encourage the development of chlorophyll and amino acids responsible for matcha’s characteristic sweetness, colour and depth of flavour. After harvesting, the leaves are processed into tencha before being finely milled into an exceptionally smooth, vibrant green powder.
Unlike infused green tea, matcha is whisked directly into water and consumed in its entirety, creating an intense yet beautifully balanced cup with vegetal sweetness, gentle astringency and a luxuriously creamy mouthfeel.
Designed to be enjoyed traditionally, this ceremonial-grade matcha is particularly suited to preparation with a chawan (matcha bowl) and chasen (bamboo whisk). Its elegant flavour makes it ideal for usucha - the lighter, softly whisked style of matcha most commonly enjoyed in Japan.
Preparation
Sift approximately 2 g of matcha into a chawan. Add 60–70 ml of water at approximately 75–80°C. Using a bamboo chasen, whisk briskly in a light zigzag motion until the tea is smooth and a delicate layer of foam forms across the surface. Enjoy immediately.

About CHILL Tea
CHILL Tea celebrates the remarkable diversity of Japanese tea, bringing traditional tea culture into a contemporary way of living. Its collection showcases carefully selected Japanese teas chosen for their quality, distinctive character and connection to the landscapes and traditions from which they originate.
From delicate Sencha and deeply aromatic Hōjicha to expressive flavoured green teas and finely milled ceremonial Matcha, CHILL offers an approachable journey through the many different expressions of Japanese tea.
At the heart of CHILL is the idea that tea is more than simply a drink. In Japan, preparing and sharing tea can be an opportunity to slow down, observe the moment and appreciate the beauty of an everyday ritual. CHILL brings this philosophy to modern life through teas that can be enjoyed with the same sense of care, whether prepared as part of a traditional tea ritual or simply as a quiet pause during the day.
The Japanese Ritual of Matcha
Matcha has been at the heart of Japanese tea culture for centuries and is closely associated with chanoyu - the Japanese Way of Tea. Its preparation celebrates attention, simplicity and presence. From the measured spoonful of brilliant green tea to the rhythmic movement of the bamboo whisk, each step transforms an everyday cup into a considered ritual.
CHILL Classic Japanese Matcha brings this tradition into contemporary life: beautifully made Japanese tea to prepare slowly, savour fully and return to every day.
Storage
To preserve its delicate aroma, flavour and vibrant colour, keep tightly sealed away from heat, light, moisture and strong odours. Once opened, refrigeration is recommended. Allow the sealed container to return to room temperature before opening to help prevent condensation.
