Nagao Kanekoma are fifth generation knife makers and the president is Mitsuo Nagao. Nagao Kanekoma has been making knives since 1894.

This Japanese Higonokami knife has a hammer forged back pattern. This double-sided sharpened knife is completely forged by the only master blacksmith who is allowed to make Higonokami knives (M Nagao). The blade is sturdy and manually sharpened and is very easy to sharpen yourself. This edition has a notch in the handle to make it easier to remove the knife from the handle.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Wash knife immediately after use with water. Dry the surface of the knife by pouring hot water of it and wipe this off with a tissue. Apply oil and then wipe off the oil with a tissue. Put the knife in to a dry storage space. If you leave the knife wet or with food on it, it will rust.

Japanese pocket knife

Got the knife for my son, it is a really nice little pocket knife, (perhaps a little on the small size, but fine for an early teen).

I was a bit annoyed that the website stated free delivery, but this didn't get included when I made the order. I queried this, and someone from Setamono responded that their shipping policy had changed. It took about three emails and screenshots for them to accept that they had falsely advertised the shipping and make a begrudging offer to refund the courier expenses. That exchange left a pretty sour feeling about buying anything else from Setamono.
