Handles on iron pans are shorter than you’ll find with other materials. And they’ll be cast in one piece with the body, so handle security is never a problem.
Iron has superb thermal properties. And once it reaches the temperature set point, it will retain a consistent heat for long periods.
It's oven safe too just remember to use an oven glove.
At the time of delivery, iron products are coated with protective varnish to prevent them rusting during transport and storage. The varnish needs to be burnt off over high heat to expose the bare metal underneath, and the pan needs to be thoroughly seasoned before first use.
